Manual therapy
Manual therapy is a skilled hands-on healthcare treatment which involves stretching and releasing of stiff, painful joints. It can safely and effectively treat injuries of the muscles and joints resulting from work, running, sports or daily activities, and even from stress!
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is an adjunctive pain-relief technique which can assist in correcting posture, relieving muscle tension, chronic pain, and treating sports injuries. It involves inserting thin needles into the body at acupuncture points to stimulate blood circulation, and has been shown to release endorphins.
Functional Assessment
Every day, we use our bodies to lift, push, pull, squat, bend, and twist - movement is at the core of what we do. A functional assessment is an injury screen which incorporates basic movements and exercises to check for imbalances and limitations. Manual muscle testing is additionally included as a potential indicator of weakness, muscle damage, or joint dysfunction.
COrrective exercise
Corrective exercises are tailored to each individual person for their specific injury/limitation, based on a detailed assessment. The prescribed exercises are altered based on each person’s daily activity requirements. For example, an exercise program for a 35-year old lawyer who is also a mother of 3, would look very different from the program for a 35-year old competitive marathoner, even if their injury was similar!
Kinesiotaping
Kinesiotape is an externally applied non-medicated tape which can assist in reducing swelling, pain, and improve blood circulation. After an assessment, kinesiotape can be applied to affected body areas and works by the stimulation of affected superficial skin regions.
